To achieve CCNA CCNA certification, one must earn a passing score on Cisco exam. Passing the ICND1 grants one the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification. The lowest level of Cisco's certification is CCENT which covers basic networking knowledge. Passing scores are set by using statistical analysis and are subject to change. At the completion of the exam, candidates receive a score report along with a score breakout by exam section and the passing score for the given exam. Cisco Career Certifications are IT Professional Certifications for Cisco Systems products. There are five levels of certification: Entry, Associate, Professional, Expert, and Architect. These are applied in seven different subject areas: Routing & Switching, Design, Network Security, Service Provider, Storage Networking, Voice, and Wireless. Associate Certifications is the 2nd of 5 levels of Cisco certifications. This level divides all Cisco certifications into separate subject matter paths. CCNA Security validates knowledge of security infrastructure, threats and vulnerabilities to networks, and threat mitigation. The Cisco CCNA Voice certification validates a skill set for specialized job roles in voice technologies such as voice technologies administrator, voice engineer, and voice manager. The CCNA Wireless certification validates the knowledge of professionals supporting wireless LANs including Networking Associates/Administrators, Wireless Support Specialists and WLAN project managers. The CCNA Wireless certification involves implementing Cisco Unified Wireless Networking Essentials. CCNA Service Provider Operations validates basic knowledge and skills in a prescriptive troubleshooting environment within a carrier class IP NGN core network infrastructure. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certifies the ability to work with medium-sized networks with technologies such as QoS, broadband, VPNs, and security-oriented features. Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional (CCIP) certification is a professional certification covering the end-to-end protocols used in large scale networks. Cisco Certified Network Professional-Security (CCNP-Security) certification program is aligned specifically to the job role of the Cisco Network Security Engineer responsible for security in routers, switches, networking devices and appliances, as well as choosing, deploying, supporting and troubleshooting firewalls, VPNS, and IDS/IPS solutions for their networking environments. Cisco Certified Wireless Professional (CCNP Wireless) The CCNP Wireless is a certification covering all aspects of wireless networking principles and theory. Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert is the highest level of professional certification. Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) recognizes the architectural experience and competency of network designers who can support the increasingly complex networks of global organizations and effectively translate business strategies into evolutionary technical strategies.

How to Pass the Cisco Network Exams with Ease

There are always reports of test takers who had a very hard time passing the Cisco networking exams, or had to take the exam a few times before they passed. Some of the exams, such as the 100-105 Cisco Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices and 210-260 Implementing Cisco Network Security, are very challenging. But they are also necessary examinations for IT professionals who want to work in a certain setting, or qualify for a job that is currently open. They are also useful for getting a promotion at your current job. But how to pass these exams with ease? One of the best ways to pass the 100-105 exam, which tests an IT professional’s ability to understand network fundamentals and LAN/router techniques, is to have a resource where exam questions and answers are visible. Resources where you can take sample exams and see their results are also very helpful. The good news is there is a site where these options are available. IT professionals can use this site to access 100-105 exam questions and answers, getting an in-depth look at the exam they will be taking in a few weeks. We believe it is the only sure-fire way to pass the exam at the first try. The problem with not looking at past questions and answers is that you will have no idea how the exam is structured. Yes, you will know the material and you may still pass, but you are handicapped. Those who have gone over past questions and answers have a much better chance of acing the test. They will know the types of questions that are asked, and how long they must finish the test. That is why finding a site where these pasts exams, questions and answers are present is so helpful. With a test such as the 210-260, where SIEM technology, cloud and virtual network topologies and other material is tested, you must be fully prepared for the questions that are being asked. A site where 210-260 exam questions are readily available for free and sample exams are included, is so helpful to ensuring a test taker’s success. And the best sites that offer exam questions and answers will have other great features that test takers can use to their advantage. For instance, a feature where those who are studying for these exams can ask each other about how a test question is properly answered is very useful. Test takers who figured out the question and its answer can post their method in the appropriate space, and everyone can see that method. This is so helpful because it not only gives you the right answer, but tells you precisely how you are arriving at that conclusion. There is no reason to leave your test prep to chance. These examinations are too important. They cost money to take, and every time you fail a test, you must wait a few weeks before you can take another one. It is much better to put in a few weeks of great preparation, which includes using a free site to get test questions and answers, as well as sample exams.

How to Keep Your WiFi Secure

We all use internet and wifi routers for our wireless devices. We want our internet connection runs flawlessly and fast. In this article, there are few tips to secure your wifi connection. First check all your routers settings and do changes as per requirements.
Wifi Secure
Frequently, when we think about protection we tend to think about passwords, unsafe websites and viruses attached to emails. One thing that is often unobserved, however, is the protection of our wireless networks themselves.

Even though less trendy than the more publicised threats, nonetheless, protecting our routers is a critically important part of staying safe online – in fact, only last month Virgin advised its customers to change their default router passwords following an Investigation

We might make up that an unprotected wireless network will result in nothing more than an increased chance that someone might help themselves to some of our bandwidth for free. However, while this in itself can be rather irritating, the possible threats can in reality be far more severe.

In fact, if a deceitful third party is able to connect to your network they might interrupt all of your traffic – stealing your passwords, redirecting your requests to false sites and changing the contents of your data are just some of the things they might want to do. And, in fact, even if they’re only using your network to get online they might be using that access to do all kinds of illegitimate things – all in your name.

So, it is critically important that your wireless router is kept as protected as possible.

Here are some tips for beefing up the security of your WiFi.

Alter your router’s admin username and password*

Every router comes with a default, and typically familiar, username and password. So, for example, a particular firm’s routers might all have the username admin and the password password. If these values remain unchanged, a hacker on your network would have pretty easy access to your router’s admin section.

Once in the admin section of the router, a hacker would basically be in control of your network – with the capability to change passwords or block and allow devices, for example.

So, if you haven’t done so already, go into your router’s settings and change the username and password to something only you know. You can get into your router’s settings by typing its IP address into a web browser. The address will usually be something like http://192.168.0.1.

Alter your network name

The service set identifier (SSID) is the name you see when you connect to your network. It is usually based on the type of router you are using.

If you’ve not followed the advice in step 1, then the SSID can be like a red rag to a bull – knowing the type of router you’re using, without changing the default password, would be a little like giving a hacker the keys to your home.

Even if you have changed your username and password though, which you actually should, it can also be a good idea to change the SSID to something more personal (just don’t use your name) that masks the type of router you’re using. Like all of these tips, you can carry this out in your router’s admin section.

Verify your wireless key settings

First, it is important to confirm in your router’s settings what type of encryption your router is using. Older forms of encryption like WEP and WPA are vulnerable to attack and so, if you have the option, take care to choose WPA2 encryption. It might be set to that already, but it is surely worth checking.

Next, make sure that you change the password (network key) to something strong containing a combination of letters, numbers and symbols. A good method of ensuring a very strong yet memorable password is to think of a memorable phrase, and use that to construct the password.

For example, you might think of the phrase ‘Although I am internet service provider in Mumbai, I now live and work in Mumbai’. That’s easy enough to remember (especially if it’s true), and by using it to construct a strong yet memorable password you might come up with something like: aIaISPiM,In1awiM!

A mixture of strong encryption and a strong password can help to make sure that only the people you would like are able to connect to your network.

Other things you might want to think about

Updating your router’s firmware to the latest version can help to repair any security vulnerabilities that have been recognized. Notifications of firmware update availability, along with detailed installation instructions can usually be found on the manufacturer’s website.

MAC address (the permanent identifier assigned to any piece of hardware) filtering can be used to only allow certain devices to connect to your network. Again, detailed instructions can be found on the manufacturer’s website and online. This is not a perfect system, however. By ‘spoofing’ MAC addresses, knowledgeable hackers can fool your network into accepting connections from their devices.

If you only connect to your network via an Ethernet connection, you might want to disable WiFi on your router in general. In this caseFree Web Content, only devices physically connected to the router could connect to your network. This is indeed extremely problematic if you have wireless devices (which most of us do).

Drugs and Alcohol Addiction

Do you have friends or relatives that are depedent on drugs or alcohol? Arm yourself with the neccessary knowledge so that you can help to uderstand and to cure them.

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL ADDICTION

Some people, both professionals and non-professionals or lay people, believe that there are three types of people who drink and use drugs; Social Users, Substance Abusers and Addicts. They consider Social Users those people who are supposedly trying to make something more out of otherwise positive, upbeat social situation – be it an interview, sporting event, date, family gathering or other activity where people are together. The user may be uncomfortable and try drugs to feel more at ease, to fit in, to feel less inhibited or any other number of mood-alterations, instead of simply not going or facing reality and participating in healthier situations for himself or herself. And supposedly, as a result of this social drug or alcohol use, these Social Users do not report negative consequences like being out of control or exhibiting any bad behaviors.
Addiction
Substance abusers, on the other hand, who supposedly use alcohol or drugs in light of negative experiences or episodes, as well as positive ones, report some negative effects. In general, though, instances seem relatively minor to them, like lampshades on heads or broken promises and after-party complaints. Sometimes only one negative issue will surface afterwards; sometimes a combination of issues will surface. Not much concrete to go on is characterized with this middle stage.

Now for the heavier hitters, known as Abusers, a number of negative consequences result, regardless of whether or not the alcohol or drugs are taken for positive, negative, any and all reasons. From one to any combination of the following negatives are often reported; negative reoccurrence of the same bad behaviors (maybe broken lamps from tripping instead of lampshades on heads), broken promises and broken limits set beforehand, mental mania or diving into deep subjects (almost in a psychological way), denial (of being drunk or high), crying jag or emotional outbursts, memory loss or confusion, and many (repeated) complaints are brought to light after the events by others.

Drugs and Alcohol Addiction Behaviors / Traits

Regardless of the type of alcohol or drug dependent person, addiction or dependence is characterized by professional standards according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) (1994). To sum up, the DSM-IV identifies an addict as having three or more of the following “symptoms” within a year’s time period: - Mental thoughts focused on the substance (alcohol or drugs) even when not using.
  • Withdrawal from society, friends, loved ones, normal activities – to focus on continued substance use.
  • Using more than expected- Substance abuse even though negative consequences directly result from the abuse (at any level: physical, emotional, social, work-related, etc.)
  • Attempts to stop or “control” use and withdrawal symptoms develop (shakes, hallucinations, cravings, etc.)
  • Tolerance levels can change; i.e. it takes more and more to get and sustain a drunk or high state

Drugs and Alcohol Addiction Help

Similar to the key to getting help for co-dependency, the key to getting help for drug and alcohol addiction is first in acknowledging the problem, then in getting help. Check out library books on co-dependency and to find helpful resources. Search the Yellow Pages, online search engines, 12-Step Groups listed in community calendars, Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics (or the specific drug name like “Cocaine”) AnonymousScience Articles, etc.

5 Best Ways to Detox from Drugs and Alcohol

Drugs and Alcohol
After facing two years of prison for drug related charges and relapsing when I got out, I was lucky enough to have found a rehabilitation facility where I got clean and healed my body, mind and spirit.

Recovery wasn’t easy, and detox was one of the hardest parts. But I got through it, and now I’m happy, healthy and the best version of myself I’ve ever been.

Detoxification is one of the most crucial steps of recovery. It is the process where you eliminate the toxins your body has accumulated from the substances you’ve consumed. It can be a real challenge, but trust me, it’s worth it. If you’re planning on getting clean, here are 5 ways to safely detox from drugs and alcohol that really helped me during my recovery process.

Rehydrate your body
Alcohol and other substances can dehydrate your body. This can cause unpleasant side effects such as headaches and muscle pains.

Rehydrating it with lots of water can eliminate these effects, with the added benefit that it flushes out your system, bringing chemicals, toxins, fats, and other unwanted items with it as it leaves your body, using the urinary and digestive system, as well as sweating and perspiration as its ways out.

The faster the body rids itself of toxins, the sooner withdrawal symptoms will end. This means you should drink large amounts of water for your detox process to be more efficient, between 9 to 12 glasses per day.

Do cardiovascular exercises
This includes doing aerobics, swimming, running and cycling, and any other exercise that raises your heartbeat. Exercise strengthens and stimulates your liver and kidneys -which are probably weakened from the substance abuse- and other vital organs, and helps eliminate drug remnants through sweat.

Additionally, exercise can also mitigate feelings of low self-esteem, depression and anxiety, which I had to deal with for a long time during my addiction, and I’m guessing you can relate to as well.

Eat healthy
I’ve always enjoyed my share of junk and comfort food, and I never was big on salads or even fruits. However, an important part of detox and recovery is to replace your unhealthy consumptions for healthy ones. This way, as you’re cleaning your body from the toxins you got from drugs and alcohol, you’re not putting in new ones.

Cutting down on sugars and bad fats is essential, since they are hard for your organs to process and they already have plenty of work.

You should also avoid processed and refined foods, given that they are low on nutrients and are difficult to digest.

Instead, you need to eat plenty of green leafy vegetables such as kale, romaine, wheatgrass, and seaweed, which are a great source of fiber to flush out your body and antioxidants to boost your immune system.

Also, you can increase your intake of Omega 3 high foods, such as salmon, avocados and almonds, which help keep your cravings down.

Changing your diet to eating only healthy foods can be challenging at first, but now that I’ve seen how much it helped during recovery and improved my general well-being, I wonder how I could ever eat junk, processed foods.

Get a close one involved
Getting through detox takes a lot of strength and willpower, so telling someone you love, such as a close friend or a family member, that you are planning on getting detoxified as a step of recovery can mean extra support during this difficult step.

Also, it can be helpful to ask them to keep you from using again, this way you don’t leave it to your willpower alone, which can result in failure.

Keep some supplies on hand
Since withdrawal symptoms are very unpleasant to say the least, it’s ideal to keep some supplies at hand that can help mitigate some of the effects, especially on the first few days.

Advil and Tylenol are good ward off the aches and pains involved. Anti-vomiting medication is also very useful. Plenty of fluids such as Gatorade should be available, as well as soups and broths. Chamomile tea, which has calming properties is also great to help you relax a little bit.

These are 5 tips I used during my detox process that really helped me. It’s important to note that, though it’s attainable, there are many risks in detoxing at home, and it would be ideal to be involved in a treatment program when attempting detox. Before you embark upon this process, there are a few things you should know about detox, in order for you to understand it better and choose the best detoxification options for you.

Cisco CCNA / CCNP, Home Lab Assembly Case Study

Cisco CCNA/CCNP Home Labs
Part of the fun and the confusion with CCNA / CCNP home labs is figuring out how to connect the equipment you have.  Chris Bryant, CCIE #12933, walks you through this case study that shows you one possible configuration for one customer’s home lab.

Part of your CCNA / CCNP education is deciding what network topology to use when you're putting together your home lab.  Some of you are starting with one or two routers or switches, while others are starting with more.  A customer recently sent me a list of his Cisco routers and switches that he has available for a home lab and asked for my help in coming up with the best way to use them.

There is no "right" or "wrong" answer to this question; again, part of the learning process is configuring and reconfiguring the physical topology of your lab.  Let's look at the routers and switches he has available, including the interfaces on each, and come up with one possible CCNA / CCNP home lab setup.

The equipment list:
  • Two 3620 routers.  Each has 1 serial port and 2 ethernet ports.
  • One 3640 router.  This has two ethernet cards, each with two ports, and two AUI ports.
  • Three 2503s, my personal favorite for home labs!  These have 1 AUI port, 2 serial interfaces, and one BRI interface apiece.
  • One 2524 router.  This has one serial port, 1 ethernet port, and one BRI interface.
  • One 4500 router.  This has eight BRI ports, 2 ethernet ports, and more importantly, four serial ports.
  • He also has a 5200 access server, an ISDN simulator, one 2924 switch, and one 1924 switch.
Now, if you don't have this much equipment to work with, don't panic!  Most CCNA / CCNP candidates don't; this is more of an exercise in looking at what you do have and using it to the utmost.

As I've mentioned in many of my CCNA / CCNP home lab articles, an access server is a great thing to have.  All he needs is an octal cable to connect his AS to the other devices we choose to use, and he's all set.  (If you need an access server sample configuration, there is one on my website in the Home Lab section.)

A frame relay switch is also great to have, and the 4500 will make a great FR switch.  Having a frame relay cloud in your CCNA / CCNP home lab is a great way to get experience configuring and troubleshooting frame relay, an essential skill for CCNA success.

I would put both of the 3620s on the frame relay cloud via the Serial interface, as well as two of the 2503s.  That gives you four routers that will be using frame relay to communicate, and that's the most we can have since the 4500 has four serial ports.   The 4500 will need to be configured as a frame relay switch and connected to the other routers via a DTE/DCE cable.  (Again, if you need a frame relay switch configuration, the one I use in my pods is on the website in the same place as the access server configuration.)

The two 2503s that are on the frame relay cloud should also be connected via their BRI interfaces.  The home lab also includes an ISDN simulator, which is necessary to allow routers to communicate via their BRI interfaces.  Just get a couple of straight-through cables to connect those two routers to the ISDN simulator and that segment is ready to go.  (Remember that you can't connect Cisco routers directly via their BRI interfaces.)

All of the routers in this lab have at least one ethernet or AUI port, so we can connect them all to either one of the switches.  The switches should be connected via at least two crossover cables to allow practice with trunking, root bridge election, and VLANs.  Having two switches really does add quite a bit to a CCNA / CCNP home lab's capabilities.  You can experiment with different subnets and vlans with as well. Don't be afraid to dive in - that's what a home lab is all about!

So now we've got four routers connected via frame relay, two via ISDN, and the others via ethernet segments.  Two of the routers that are not using their serial interfaces should be connected directly via their serial ports.  For this, you'll just need another DTE/DCE cable.  Knowing how to bring up the line between two directly connected serial ports is an important CCNA skill, and so is troubleshooting it.  You should be able to bring such a connection up with your eyes closed, and once you work with your own CCNA / CCNP home lab, you'll be able to!

Also, don't forget to add a loopback interface to each one of your routers.  I like to use 1.1.1.1 for R1, 2.2.2.2 for R2, and so on. Advertising loopbacks is another great way to get practice with RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, IGRP, and static routing.

We've taken a pile of routers and switches and turned them into a fantastic CCNA / CCNP home lab.  Whether you're working with two Cisco devices or tenComputer Technology Articles, coming up with your own home lab topology is a great learning experience and the beginning of developing your analytical and troubleshooting skills.
